| About US | ||||||||||||
| We are a small hobby kennel and LARGE dog lovers. Our goal is to help others with their dogs even if they have not gotten them from us. Greg and I have been involved with dogs our our lives. Greg grew up in the show ring atmosphere as his Mother bred and showed Sams under the Tovaritch banner a long time ago. I won't quite say just how long ago <gg>. Greg took over his mother's kennel name "Tovaritch" which means friend or comrad in Russian, back in 1990 when he got his first Borzoi. Greg has always loved the elegant and noble breed. Greg took genetics in school and he is the one plans our litters. Our dogs are line bred. Me, well... I too have had dogs all my life however, they were special pets that took up our lives and were never in the show ring. But I loved them anyways. I got my first show dog - my Basenji, in 1998 and well I was hooked. I have participated in various K9 sports, showing, coursing and agility and I am an Agility judge with the Agility Association of Canada and am both provisional and licenced (in various breeds) with the CKC for Lure Coursing. Greg and I both have been members with a number of different organizations over the years: Canadian Kennel Club, Borzoi Club of Canada, Foothills Gazehound Club, Agility Association of Canada, International Silken Windhound Society, Canadian Sighthound Field Association, Calgary Agility Association, Basenji Club of Canada... We love the European and "Old Style" Borzoi and went over to Europe to get our foundation. We like a strong dog, with substance so that it can do the job it was originally bred to. Temperament and personality are also #1 with us. Our pups are hand raised and loved beyond belief. One thing for sure, we have great dogs that love their people, children and have been exposed to all kinds of dogs, and some other animals too (horses, cats, rabbits, hamsters <gg>). We try to provide and find loving forever homes for our four legged family. Since we don't have kids, they are ours and those who get one of ours become part of a very extended family. <gg>. Tovaritch dogs are always owner handled or at least by our good friends, who are are always up for a challenge when we bring a herd of dogs to a show. If you are ever at a show where we are, please come by for a visit with our crew. They are more then willing to provide hugs and snuggles & the occasional slurp to all that come for a visit. |
